By Shawty (aka Kavan)A Troubled BirthCleopatra was very young when she became queen. She was born in 69 B.C and was born in the city of Alexandria, Egypt. She had 2 older sisters named Cleopatra VI and Berenice IV. She also had a younger brother and sister named Ptolemy XIII and Arsinoe IV. Her father, Ptolemy Auletes XII, died when Cleopatra was 18 and her brother Ptolemy was 12. Her family, The Ptolemies, descended from a Macedonian general. Her family ruled Egypt for nearly 3 centuries, but then her kingdom was eclipsed by Rome. Which led Cleopatra and her brother fight against each other. Cleopatra was destined to marry her brother, Ptolemy XIII, in 51 B.C which was said in her father's will. There was a battle between Mark Antony and Octavian called The Battle of Actuim in 31 B.C. A year later after the battle both Antony and Cleopatra did a double suicide. Octavian was both Caesar and Cleopatra's adopted son.
The Meeting between Caesar and CleopatraCaesar's arrival to Egypt was how Cleopatra and Caesar met. He was in a civil war against Roman General Pompey. Cleopatra was 30 years younger than Caesar. The Roman General Pompey was going through a crisis with being defeated, so he fled to Egypt to gain support with Ptolemy XIII. Ptolemy thought that Pompy was more of trouble and had him executed. When Caesar arrived to Egypt, Ptolemy tried to tell Caesar that he was the sole leader. Caesar decided to stay in Egypt to help solve any problems because Egypt held on to a stable for Caesar and a trading post. Tried to keep Cleopatra from telling Caesar the problems with Ptolemy and her. Ptolemy locked her away to this really secured area and she snuck out to the Palace and told Caesar everything about that problem.
